Her research interest is developing single-cell Raman/surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy coupled with stable isotope probing, single-cell sorting and sequencing for investigating environmental and clinical microorganisms, including antibiotic resistant bacteria, functional bacteria driving N and P biogeochemical cycling, biofilms (biofouling), microplastics, nanotoxicity. Dr. Cui has coauthored more than 40 papers published in J. Am. Chem. Soc., Nat Proto, Anal. Chem., Environ. Sci. Technol, Water Res J. Phys. Chem. C et al.
